Dear Brother 04 Summary

1/6/2013

I'm getting more and more confused about the development of this series...because I see a definite spark between Sougo and Momo, which is troublesome since they're brother and sister.  Unless some deus ex machina occurs later on to prove that they're not true blood siblings...I don't know if I can take it.  There have been many series of the brother falling in love with his sister (like boku wa imouto ni koi suru) that have floated around...but the premise of incest is too disturbing for me to look at.  Gin's reactions are very telling, and I think he knows something about Sougo that Aoba doesn't (or probably is too young to remember).  I don't know if this is merely his suspicion about the way Sougo acts or if it's some sort of secret he's hiding.  I'm hoping for the first (since secrets are so cliche and it's already been done so many times in Hapi Mari I'm getting tired of it).

Anyhow, I'll just go on with the summary and let you guys decide what to think of it.

Momo is sent to a branch office as punishment for her last incident, but she's optimistic about it.  After all, it's a place to start afresh and she wouldn't have to see her ex-fiance anymore.  Her coworkers are friendly, and she meets a woman named Sakura Honda.

She comes home to see Aoba eating one of her last popsicles and gets into an argument over it.  Angry, she decides to use the bathroom first and slams over the door, only to walk in on Sougo when he's changing.

Over dinner, Sougo asks how the new workplace is like.  Momo responds that every is very friendly and that she's glad that there are no rumors floating around her leave from corporate.

Sougo: I'm not asking about that.  I'm asking whether there are any good men.

Aoba and Momo are dumbfounded by his directness.

Momo: ...why are we talking about that...?  I'm not working just to fetch a rich husband.

Sougo:  Do you think you would have any other chances to meet men outside of work?

Momo: N-not really...

Sougo:  Then isn't this a good chance now?  Take advantage of it and find a proper man to date.

Momo: ...eh...

Aoba: Hey hey, what are you saying.  You shouldn't coerce her into something.  Momo's free to do as she wishes.

Momo:  Yes!  He's right.

Aoba: Plus, you're too naive Sougo.

Sougo: What do you mean?

Aoba: I'm referring to the fact that you don't know how low quality of a woman Momo is.  If she was the type who knew how to pretty herself up, she would have been married off already.

Momo (shocked): Huh?!  Hey, shut up!

Sougo: I agree.  You're right, but that's all the more reason we can't let her out of sight.  She doesn't know how to protect herself, and her abilities as a woman is limited.  If we don't make her understand right now, who knows what will happen in the future!

Aoba: And that's exactly why she needs to take it slowly!  Or else she would be taken advantage of again and swallowed up like a little fish.  Plus, as her brothers...

Momo: Hey!  You two stop it already!

Angry, Momo stomps off to find her pudding, which is when she notices Gin walking in munching on her last treat.  Exasperated, Momo cries and runs away, declaring that she needs to lock the fridge.  Momo feels pressured to look for a man, and the next day she analyzes all the guys in her company.  She doesn't think she can suddenly turn into the aggressive man-hunting type, but she also doesn't want the last person who she dated and had sex with to be that trashy fiance.  As she sips on her juice box, she thinks how fit Sougo looked naked...and immediately puts a stop to her thoughts, attributing it to her unsatisfied lust.

Later on, she talks to Sakura about their upcoming Christmas plans, and Momo despairs because she doesn't have any.  (Again, Christmas is like a second Valentine's day in Japan where people spend it with their lovers...so this is why Momo is so depressed about not having a date that night.)

At home, she asks whether Sougo had any plans for Christmas, and he responds vaguely that he does, that Aoba and Gin also had some plans too, and why she's asking.  Momo gets even more depressed, since she thinks that they must all have girlfriends.  Sougo hits the bullseye when he points out that Momo probably has no plans for that day.  To prove herself, Momo says she would definitely be able to make plans for Christmas.  Later that night, she has a nightmare in which all three of her brothers bring home their girlfriends to introduce to Momo, making an official declaration that they're getting married and thus abandoning Momo.

She does manage to find a guy to accompany her on Christmas though, except she discovers him to be a bad drunk.  They near a love hotel, and Momo's dreading it since all she wants to do is to dump him off somewhere.  He's leaning against her for support, on the verge of throwing up, when Sougo bumps into her.

Sougo: What are you doing here?

Momo: Uhh..uh..that is...

Drunk guy: Komatsu-san, let's hurry and make the (hotel) reservation.

Seeing as he's interrupting, Sougo turns to leave when Momo calls him back.

Sougo: That's the new boyfriend, right?  What are you hesitating for?  Stop hesitating.

Drunk guy: Do you know you're annoying?  Did you come here to pick a fight?

Sougo: No, nothing of the kind.  Tsukahara-san, please stop arguing.

Drunk guy (pushes Sougo): Then go shove off.

The bag Sougo was carrying drops to the floor.

Drunk guy: Let's hurry, Komatsu-san.

Momo: Tsukahara-san, I didn't have any intention to take things further.

Drunk guy: Why, did you want to string me along?  We're here already.  I know why you were chased out of corporate.  I heard that you were messing around with relationships and that it even led to violence.  Didn't you just want to find a person indiscriminately to comfort yourself?  You're lonely, right?  Isn't that why you agreed so readily when I asked you out?

Momo's shocked at his words and at how he views her.  And she only has herself to blame for acting so rashly.  This is when Sougo pulls her towards him and calls Momo his girlfriend, trying to save her pride.  He tells Tsukahara that they had agreed to meet in the hotel area, and that she isn't the type of unchaste woman he thinks she is.  He tells Tsukahara to take back his words, because Momo is the type to devote herself entirely to one man once she falls in love, no matter how much trouble it will cause her in the future.  Momo stays silent, shocked at first that Sougo called her his girlfriend and ashamed and embarrassed next when Sougo continues on.  Tsukahara says he doesn't believe Sougo, which is when Sougo pulls Momo for a kiss (ok, it reveals itself to not be one later on, only as a matter of positioning, but Tsukahara doesn't know that).

Momo is super shocked of course and she spaces out while Sougo dares Tsukahara to keep on watching if he doesn't believe Sougo.  The guy runs off, and Momo drops to the ground.  She thanks Sougo for saving her again, but Sougo says it was his fault too because he had rushed Momo to go find herself a man.  He leans over his bag, lamenting that the contents are crushed and cursing Tsukahara for it.

Sougo: ...I didn't want to blame you, but can't you change even a little?  You can't even protect yourself!  That was the second time you had picked out trash!  What's with your taste in men!

Momo: S-sorry!

Sougo: And it's all because of your bad taste that the present is ruined now.  You need to straighten up!  If you could have picked seriously...then I wouldn't have to do such...such things to my little sister...

The next panel shows that they were only borrowing positions to trick Tsukahara, but nevertheless, they were really close.  Momo's heart is racing and she feels guilty about it.  It was the first time she has seen that kind of expression on Sougo...the kind reserved for lovers.  And she feels all the more lonely.  Sougo stretches out his hand to Momo, but she doesn't take it immediately.

Momo: Ah, let me pay for that present.  It was for your girlfriend, right?

Sougo: Eh?

Momo: You're going off to the date next, right?

Sougo: What are you talking about?  You've misunderstood.  I was late tonight because I had work.

Momo: Then...what about the present?

Sougo: This?  This is...

At home, it's revealed that all brothers bought a set of pudding (the nice expensive ones) for Momo.  Gin reveals that he had sneaked away in the middle of a Christmas party, and Aoba has just gotten off his part time job.  They had all made a bet to see which present would Momo like the best, and that the loser would have to treat everyone else to an expensive meal.  Momo's lost for words, since she thought she would be spending Christmas all by herself, but her brothers promise to never abandon her.  That is...until she finds a good man.

Sougo (pats Momo on her head): Ensuring your happiness is part of my duty.

Here Gin looks at Sougo suspiciously, and Aoba is a little confused.

Aoba: Duty?  I wonder why Sougo nii-chan would think in such a way.

Gin: Beats me, I wonder why.

The chapter ends with Momo's internal dialogue, calling out to the younger Sougo not to ever abandon her again.

Dear Brother 03 Summary

I'm so glad that they didn't have the December issue of Petit Comic in Kinokuniya when my friend helped me check...because I just saw it online today, read it...and...well, honestly I don't know where the story is going.  It's a bit contrived, and while we do focus more on Sougo...I don't see a progressive setup of the story.  It's a lot of pointless arguing again, and while I see that there are difficulties in restoring a sibling relationship such as one they had in the past...well...we're not moving anywhere!  Hapi Mari was quick to set up the plot and only later on did it start to drag.  It was chop chop chop.  Hopefully the next chapter will redeem itself....but anyways, on to the summary!

Again, I'm working off Chinese scans because that's all they have.  There are some lines I don't completely understand because well...it's translated into four-character idioms that are a bit obscure to me.  Anyhow, if you want to follow the images, please clickhere.

This chapter opens with Momo arguing with Gin and Aoba whether to make their omelettes sweet or salty.  While both brothers prefer salty, Momo insists on sweet since it was what their mother used to make.  Sougo walks into the kitchen wondering what all the fuss is about, having apparently moved in with the rest of the siblings since that night.

Flashing back...

They all wake up sleepily, Momo and Sougo shocked to see Aoba and Gin with them.

Momo: Hey...my butt... (Gin was using her bottom as a pillow)

Momo/Sougo: What are you guys doing here!!

Aoba/Gin: That's what we want to say!

Momo: I...I want to apologize to Gin-niichan and Aoba for what happened that night...but that is that and this is this!!  How can you sleep on my butt?  It's my butt for crying out loud!!

Gin: Why are you so nice to Sougo but not to me?

Momo: And why do you care so much?  It's not like I tried to sneak into your covers like usual.

*Sougo is taken aback*

Sougo: Eh...sneak into covers...like usual...?

Gin:  Right!  She doesn't let me sleep with her like back then when we were kids.

Sougo: You're sexually harassing your own little sister!!

Gin:  Sexual harrassment?!  What are you talking about?  I just want to restore our lost brother-sister relationship.

Sougo: No one in society would approve of your excuse!

Aoba:  Gin-niichan, leave it be, since compared to Sougo-niichan, we know more about Momo than he does.  For example, her three sizes are 82-60-85.

Momo (shocked): Wait...when on earth did you...!!

Aoba: She has unexpectedly grown into a fine woman, though of course there was 15 years for her to work on that.  Also, the brand of her underwear is...

Momo: Stop it!  Stop it already!!

Sougo moves to pat Momo on her head before yelling: Momo...why are you so careless!!

Momo: Why are you yelling at me!!

Anyhow, Sougo decides to move in to keep an eye on Aoba and Gin to make sure they don't harass Momo again.  Here, we learn that Gin is a novelist who also has chef credentials, while Aoba is still a college student.

They sit down at the table for breakfast as they eat the salted omelette (Momo lost in a majority vote).

Aoba: Momo, I think Gin-niichan's omelettes are quite nice, don't you?

Momo (looks to Sougo):  I know, but that's not what I'm pointing at.  I thought Sougo-niichan would stand at my side.

Sougo (offhandedly):  How old are you now?  You still have the tastes of a child.

Gin: Hey now, everyone has individual preferences.

Sougo:  Gin-niichan, you're spoiling Momo too much, even including living with her.

Gin: But how can I leave her be when she's still so careless as a child!!

Momo: I suppose I am...since I was cheated by my fiance, asked by the company to take a break from work, and even believed in Sougo-niichan's lies about how to win rock-paper-scissors.

Sougo: Wait a moment, I've never lied about it.

Momo:  Is that so?  Then why do I keep losing?

Sougo: You just have a bad sense of direction, don't blame it on me.

Momo:  And you still sound so righteous yourself.  In fact it's Sougo-niich who has grown more irresponsible after all these years.

Sougo: Look at how un-cute you've become.  Completely different from the past.

Momo (shocked): It's been 15 years so of course I would change!!

Gin: Hey you two stop arguing.

Sougo: It's time for my work anyways!

Momo: Good riddance!

Aoba: And I thought that between all of us, you and Sougo-niichan had the best relationship.

Momo: I didn't pick a fight with him, it was all his fault!

Gin: Momo, you're crossing the line.

Momo: ...Fine I get it.  I didn't know Sougo-niichan was so unpleasant from the start.

Aoba: Honestly I don't remember.

Gin:  He hasn't really changed.

Momo thinks back to the night he comforted her and the warmth she had felt, but that had suddenly all evaporated.  Later that night, Sougo comes back home to see Momo up on a chair trying to change the light bulb.  He says he can see her underwear, which causes her to fall off.  At dinner, he criticizes her cooking, saying it's obvious that she hasn't inherited mom's skills, which erupts into another fight.  Momo locks herself in her room, and Sougo looks away somewhat guiltily.  She ponders whether Sougo is just acting like a brother because he's bound by blood to do so, and whether all her expectations of him were just hopeful wishing.

A day later, as Momo's cleaning the house and offers to also clean Aoba's room, Sougo again criticizes her for not doing a good job, and that Aoba is better off cleaning by himself.  Of course this provokes Momo.  The photo frame of their mother wobbles on the shelf, and Sougo pushes her away to protect her, though he says it's probably wobbling because their mother was frustrated by Momo's lack of cleaning skills.

Later that night, Gin and Aoba both have things to attend to outside the house and inform Momo that they will not be eating at home.  Momo is a bit feverish, and she hopes to only cook for herself (preferably pop something frozen into the microwave), but she worries whether she may also have to make Sougo's portion.  Luckily, Sougo calls back home to tell her that he also has work and so will not be returning home for dinner.  Momo's voice cracks a bit as she talks to him, which Sougo notices immediately.  He asks her if there's anything wrong, but she denies it.  After hanging up, she feels faint and crouches on the floor, but she doesn't want to bother Aoba or Gin with her problems.

Sougo makes a quick return home to check on Momo, who he finds lying on the floor.  Worried, he tries to help her up, but Momo will have none of it.  She tells him to go back to work but Sougo picks her up and drops her on her bed.  It seems that Momo is running a fever close to 40 degrees C (or 104 F).  He tells her to take it easy and to tell him if she needs anything.

Momo: Why did you notice?  I thought you didn't like me.

Sougo: What are you saying?  It's not a matter of like or dislike.

Momo: I've had enough!

Sougo: You don't know what you're saying, go to sleep.

Momo: The you right now is so different from before.  You act like you're nice to be on the outside, but honestly you don't even spare me a smile.  You're just acting like an older brother should act, right?  Then you can drop the act, because I'll only suffer more because of it.  My older brother was kind to me in the past.

Sougo (leans into Momo and presses his forehead to hers): I told you to sleep.  And calm down.  You're running such a high fever, it can be dangerous for your health.  This has happened too before when you fell into the river and had a fever.  Did you really want me to treat you like you were eight?  Of course I can do that easily, but you're an adult now.  I don't want to act like Gin and treat you like a little girl.  But I can't forget the past like Aoba did either.  Whenever I wanted to treat you like an adult, memories of you when you were little will shake my decisions.  However I look at you though, I know you're not a child anymore.  For example, I thought your head was really big, and when I carried you now, I thought you were really heavy.

Momo (offended): Can't you possibly change the way you're saying things...

Sougo: I'm just telling the truth, so keep listening.  I'm always hesitating inside, because you've grown so much already, to the point where you're at a marriageable age.  I thought I was the only one who was stopped by the memories from 15 years ago, unable to move forward.

Momo: So are you saying that you were just like me, unsure about how to proceed about this relationship thing?

Sougo (blushes and averts his eyes): ...let's drop this topic.  Hurry and go to sleep.

Momo laughs at her own silliness.

Momo: I didn't know you still remember the incident at the summer festival when I dropped into the river.

Sougo: Well we did call the ambulance after all, so that was memorable.

Momo: It was because Aoba flung his slipper off the hill and I slipped into the river when I tried to retreive it for him.  And then Sougo-niichan came rushing along.

Sougo: That was a horrible incident.  Afterwards, I also had a high fever that eventually became pneumonia after I contracted it from you.

Momo (flustered): Was it like that...

Sougo: And then mom and dad scolded me and Gin for not watching you better.  Aoba that brat escaped because he was too young, even though he was at fault for flinging the slipper.

Momo:  But didn't you say at that time that I can seek your help in anything because you're my brother?

Sougo: Ah, that was to prevent you from causing more trouble, since you always run into it.

Momo despairs at her beautiful memories being destroyed.

Sougo (smiles): I don't think I'm quite as generous as you made me out to me.

Momo rests at ease with his smile, hoping that this was not an illusion because of her fever.

She wakes up to see Gin peeling an apple for her.  Gin confirms that Sougo has always been the type to shy away from other people, and that his actions and words don't always match what he's really feeling, although Momo is probably the only one who he makes an exception for.

Phew, end of summary!  I hope you enjoyed reading it!!!

Dear Brother 02 Summary

11/18/2012

So I’ve been checking almost daily to see if the second chapter of Dear Brother has been released in Chinese scans yet…and after a prompting from Minchi today, checked again.  And the good news is they’ve finally released it!  So I’m able to provide a detailed summary.  Here goes nothing!

Momo wakes up in the morning, reflecting on what has happened so far regarding her brothers and the exposure of her fiancé as a fake swindler.  As Momo changes, Gin (her oldest brother) opens the door on her to inform her that breakfast is ready.

“What you’re awake already?  I thought you were still lazing around in your bed,” he says exasperatedly, completely oblivious to the fact that Momo is half-naked.

“How many times have I told you to knock before you enter my room, Gin-niichan?” Momo yells as she hits him.

“Wah…don’t throw the alarm clock!  The clock…”

Momo goes off to shower, silently reprimanding her eldest brother.  They’re hardly kids anymore, and it’s inappropriate.  Of course, this is when Aoba (the youngest brother) opens the door on her thinking that Gin was inside.  Naturally she throws a bucket of water on him.  As for Sougo (the middle brother Hokuto lookalike), he had declined to move in.  Gin and Aoba reasoned that while they were worried for her at first, they wanted to move in so they could repair their sibling relationship.  Momo naturally couldn’t decline with such a reason, and so Aoba and Gin decided to settle it with rock-paper-scissors.  Remembering that Sougo had taught her to do paper first in order to win, Momo puts paper…except Gin and Aoba uses scissors.  The two are overjoyed that they had won and that Momo was so naïve while Sougo just observed remotely.

Anyways, a few days have passed where Momo continually bullied her brothers (probably for walking in on her).  Gin and Aoba comically complain to their mother in front of the altar.

“Can’t we use another method to ‘repair’ our relationship?” Momo sighs.

“Why do you have to be so shy?  The 4 of us used to sleep together in the shape of the kawa character (川), and I used to help you and Aoba bathe,” Gin says.

“How old do you think I am?  I’m 23 now!!  I’m not a kid anymore!” Momo says as she grabs her bag ready to leave for work.

At lunchtime, as Momo moves to sit at a table in the cafeteria, the others get up and distance themselves away from her.  It turns out that her disgruntled fiancé had spread nasty rumors about her to get revenge, painting her as a cheater.  She sits down quietly when Sougo suddenly appears in front of her.  She’s shocked, but he tells her that he’s the consulting lawyer for the company, and that he’s been the company’s lawyer since half a year ago.  Flustered, she gets up to leave, but Sougo tells her to meet him on the rooftop.

They make polite small talk on the rooftop before Sougo asks whether she wants to sue her fiancé.

“It’s his doing, isn’t it?  Both the reason why rumors are flying around and why people take off when they see you.  You know you can sue him for defamation, right?” Sougo comments.

“Wah, you’re really sharp, but you don’t need to do that for me,” Momo declines.

“He’s really the typical bastard,” Sougo says.

“…Are you trying to call me an idiot for going out with that bastard?” she asks.

“You’re quite sharp too,” Sougo replies.

Momo leaves him, saying she has already cheered up.  At home, Aoba and Gin are still pestering her like little kids to sleep together at night, and the rumors haven’t stopped circulating at work.
The next day, a coworker goes up to her in the bathroom and asks, “Komatsu-san, honestly, are you the type to go after just any man who has status regardless of what happens?”

“Eh?”
“I saw you yesterday afternoon.  The lawyer must be the guy you cheated with.  You’re the type to cast webs on men just to reserve open options for yourself.  You laid hands on your previous fiancé because he was the relative of the upper administrative staff of the company, right?  But you should really hold back from doing such wicked things.  I feel sorry for the lawyer who fell for your tricks.”
Unable to take anymore, Momo grabs her hard on the shoulder.

“W-what?” the coworker asks.  “Angry you’ve been exposed and want to take it out on me?”

“Please take back what you said,” Momo says.

Momo returns home early that day.

“What do you want to eat?  I was just about to go grocery shopping,” Gin says.

“My pudding…” Momo says seeing her empty pudding cup.

“Ah, sorry, I’ll buy you a new one,” says Gin.

“Ah, welcome home.  I was going to ask you to buy some mango flavoured ones too…” Aoba says.

Exasperated by the day’s events, Momo erupts, “What do you think you two are doing?  You’ve only said a bunch of things like they were good for me, playing brother-and-sister.  But isn’t this all a farce for yourselves?  I’ve had enough of you two!  Get out!  Leave me alone!  LEAVE ME ALONE!”

She collapses to the floor after the two leave.

“It’s so quiet,” Momo thinks.

She reflects on what happened at the company earlier.  It turns out that her superior had told her to reflect on her actions, since she displayed violence towards a coworker.  Momo defended that she had only grabbed her shoulders, but her superior continued that since she has recently dissolved her engagement to another coworker, isn’t this a sign that she has trouble getting along with people?  Momo thinks, “I don’t regret what I’ve done.  But what should I do from now on?  Anxiety is now closing in on me once it’s silent in the house.  I’ve always wanted someone to rescue me.”  She thinks back to laughing and joking with her brothers.  “If I had continued like that, I wouldn’t have to think.  But instead I pushed them away.  I have always hated being alone.”

The door rings, and Momo springs up thinking that Aoba and Gin have come back, though Sougo appears instead.

“Where has Gin gone?” Sougo asks in the kitchen.

“Ah, he had something to do.  I’ll make you something, please sit.  Coffee or tea?” Momo asks.

“Momo, I’ve heard what happened at the company.”

“Is that so?  I can’t hide anything away from you.”

“Why did you do something like that?”

“…something made me angry, it’s not a big deal.  Coffee or tea?”

“Momo.  I don’t think you would do something like that without reason.  What happened?”

“Why are you so sure about this?  It has nothing to do with Sougo-niichan, right?  Really, nothing has happened.”

“Momo!”

“The blood just rushed to my head.”

“Hey, Momo!!  Stop this right now…” Sougo grabs her and spins her around to find her crying.

“I can’t…”

“Huh?  I’m your brother.”

“I know!”

“Then why don’t you ask for my help like you did in the past?”

“Even Sougo-niichan is speaking like them!  We can’t go back to the way we were, we’re adults now!  We’ve been separated for 15 years.  It’s not possible for us to go back to the sibling relationship we had.  I’ve even forgotten how to be spoiled by you.  I can’t…”

“Then I shall ask the other person what happened,” Sougo says.

“Don’t!  That’s taking it too far.  Why are you doing this?”

“Because you’re not acting normal,” Sougo says.

“It’s because she insulted Sougo-niichan!!” Momo cries.  “She insulted Sougo-niichan!  I couldn’t forgive the fact that she compared you to Sakaki (her fiancé).  I didn’t want you to know…”

Sougo pulls Momo towards him.  “Honestly you’re still as stubborn as you were in the past.  I agree that 15 years has been too long.  I’ve also forgotten how best to love you.  But even then, you’re still my younger sister.  This is a fact that won’t change no matter how long we’ve been separated.”

“I…I…I took it out on Gin-niichan and Aoba,” Momo says.

“…after I call them, I’ll go with you to apologize.”

“…But they may still be angry.  I think it’s better to…”

“I’m not sure about that.  But even then, I’ll continue to protect you.  Don’t think anymore.  Just go to sleep.  I’ll stay by your side.”

That night Momo dreamed of something that she would have forgotten about if Sougo wasn’t there.  Fifteen years ago, the four of them went to a summer festival, and Aoba had dropped something down a hill.  Being the older sister, Momo had gone down to retrieve it for him, slipping down and fainting as a result.  When she woke up, there were a lot of adults surrounding her, as well as Aoba and Sougo crying frantically.

“Hey Momo, wake up!” Aoba calls.

“The ambulance came.  Momo!  Thank goodness!!  Idiot!!  Why did you have to do something so dangerous?  Didn’t I tell you that all you had to do was tell me, and I would do everything for you?  It’s because you’re my sister!” a young Sougo had said.

Momo thinks, “Sougo-niichan had probably forgotten about this already.  If I hadn’t met him again, I probably would have forgotten too.  Even though it was such a little thing, to me, it was my first love.  Nii-chan.”
Gin and Aoba creeps back into the house, wondering who the men’s shoes belong to at the entrance.  Freaking out that she already has a new boyfriend, they rush down the hallway to find Sougo and Momo sleeping together, holding hands.  Which naturally makes them jealous of course, since they’ve been wanting to sleep with her ever since they moved in.

When Momo wakes up the next morning, she finds that the two decided to sleep with her and cuddle too.

PHEW!  End of chapter.  Here’s the link to them if you want to read them in Chinese or if you just feel like browsing the pictures.

Dear Brother 01 Summary

Momo is separated from her three older brothers when her father died when she was little.  Her relatives and other close friends took pity on Momo's mother and adopted the 3 boys since she doesn't have the financial power nor is physically well enough to care for all 4 children.  Ever since that time, Momo has not seen her brothers for 15 yearrs.

The chapter opens with Momo praying to her mom.  Her fiance is coming over to meet her today, and for some reason, her brothers have also asked to meet up with her fiance.  She thinks it's a bit weird since they haven't contacted each other for 15 years, but agrees to the meeting.  Momo goes out to the convenience store to pick up so beer, when she bumps into her second eldest brother (but she doesn't recognize him).  They both reach for the 6-pack, and her second eldest brother (sorry I'm not sure about the reading of the name in Japanese since it's in Chinese right now...and you know how there are multiple ways of reading a single name) suddenly decides to play rock-paper-scissors with her to see who gets it.  Her brother wins naturally and tells Momo that she'll lose if she does rock first.  She should have done paper instead.  Momo is frustrated by this stranger spewing nonsense, since she has never asked for his opinion on rock-paper-scissors.

She returns home with her other groceries when she bumps into her youngest brother and oldest brother.  The oldest one hilariously mistakes the youngest one as Momo at first.  Anyways, they meet the fiance inside and start to ask questions.  The oldest one comes out right with, "How much do you have in savings?"  Momo panics right away, certain that this would ruin her chances of marriage.  The fiance hedges a bit...and then the youngest brother asks, "Do you visit nightclubs often?  Because it would be bad if you caught something and passed it to Momo."

Momo asks them to stop asking such weird questions and gets angrier and angrier.  Who are they to come and intrude upon her life when they haven't shown up in 15 years, not even when their mother died?  Anyways, the second eldest brother finally shows up also asking personal questions like "Do you gamble", which pisses Momo off.  After the fiance leaves, he tries to hand her an investigative report (god what's with all these investigative reports dammnit) on the fiance.  Momo naturally doesn't look at it even when her brother accuses that she doesn't know the other side of her fiance.  Momo finally asks them to all leave, shouting that she doesn't see them as brothers since they never came to help with mother's funeral, which her fiance did do.

Later on, we see that the fiance does indeed visit nightclubs, and he even goes so far as to say to the hostess that he must visit more often now before he doesn't get a chance after marriage.  He turns up later at Momo's place and asks her immediately to sign the papers to be married.  Momo is a bit confused by these events and somewhat declines.  The fiance spots the envelope of investigative materials and asks Momo what it is.  Momo answers that it's an investigative report her brothers had done on him, but that she has never read it and is really sorry for her brothers' nosy and rude behavior. However the fiance suddenly goes ballistic, accusing Momo of having read the report, and that must be the reason why she doesn't want to sign the contract with him.  He's about to hit her when Momo's second brother stops him.

All 3 of them actually appear then, and the youngest one plays a recording of what the fiance said in the host club.  He actually dressed up as the hostess that served the fiance, lol.  The fiance had said that he wanted the money off the house Momo has (it's a big family home she shared with her mother) to pay off his debt from gambling.  The second eldest brother finally asks Momo who she trusts better.  Whether she trusts her brothers or her fiance.  Momo picks the brothers in the end and ends up slapping the fiance.  She apologizes to her brothers for having called them not part of the family earlier on, and the brothers each give their reason as to why they couldn't make it to the funeral.  One had work, and the others were either not told about it at all or had to not go out of consideration for their adoptive families.

Anyways, the brothers are about to go back home before the eldest says he's going to start leaving with Momo from now since he shouldn't leave her to fend for herself.  He then suggests why don't all of them live together?

And the chapter ends there!  I'm actually open to family stories, there doesn't always need to be love, even if the majority of Petit's manga are like that.  It's refreshing...and I think the second eldest brother (the one with black hair and looks like Hokuto's younger clone) is more of the main character. Please do NOT tell me it will be a love story between the two, or else I will go batshit crazy.  I don't even care if it's some mix-up at birth or something so that doesn't make them related by blood.  Anyways all in all, I look forward to reading this!  It should be a change of pace from her previous works~
