Hot reunion sex? Check.
Baby? Not yet, but they better have a damn one in the last chapter.
Picking up from the last chapter, Hokuto enters the Mamiya household to save Chiwa from being dragged out. He smiles down at her shocked expression and says, “Sheez, you’re reckless as usual. I didn’t think I would see you here. I’m glad you’re as peppy as ever.”
The Mamiya relatives, especially grandpa, are stunned by Hokuto’s appearance while Chiwa continues to look at Hokuto in disbelief. “Is that really him?” she thinks.
Souma, who has appeared by Hokuto’s side, explains, “I’ve received contact from hokuto-sama a few days ago, but I was told to keep quiet since he doesn’t want anyone to interfere with the events today.”
Hokuto calmly begins, “Well then, I really had wanted to take this slowly, but if I can’t just go home without realizing my goal. My goal of finally settling the problem I’ve struggled with for twenty years. What Chiwa said just now was the truth. I wanted to find my mother’s murderer by climbing to the very top of the company. And what’s irritating was that investigating from the outside was actually more effective to finding the answer than from inside the Mamiya family. If the mastermind behind this only ran my mother over twenty years ago, I probably wouldn’t have found out. But thanks to her also going after me and Chiwa, I’ve finally singled the perpetrator out. The person who plotted everything behind this is here right now, but I have no intention of naming her here.”
Chiwa listens intently, still confused by Hokuto’s appearance.
“What the hell!! Don’t screw around!” angry cousin butts in. “There’s probably no such person to begin with! Isn’t that right? Who do you think you are?”
Satoru and his wife are also worried that even Hokuto is spouting such nonsense.
“Is it money? Do you want to threaten us?” angry cousin asks.
“Threaten? You’re wrong, it’s simply a transaction. I’ve gambled everything to pin down the perpetrator. You’ve also staked your everything and come this far, haven’t you? You also have something you don’t want to lose, right? It’s the same for me. I don’t want to lose Chiwa. That’s why I ask you to back off from us. I just want to live a normal life with her,” Hokuto states.
Suddenly an elderly lady chimes in, “Tch, I never thought that she would die. I told him to just scare her a little, but that man…”
All attention is suddenly drawn to her, and Satoru’s father looks to his wife for an explanation.
“Ka—Kayo, what are you…?”
“It was for both your sake and Satoru’s sake,” she says. To Hokuto, “Both your dad and you were an eyesore. Just because the late Seiji happened to produce results from time to time, my husband was always treated second despite being the eldest son. And although he felt inferior to his brother, my husband didn’t have the guts to turn the tables. That’s why I had to take it into my own hands.”
“What on earth have you…” stammers Satoru’s father.
“Didn’t you want to become the group’s president?” Kayo defends. “On top of that, the child that Seiji-san brought into this family would stand in Satoru’s way. His wife was also unnecessarily poking around…”
“Mom…” Satoru says.
“If only he hadn’t been brought into the Mamiya family, this wouldn’t have happened. What do you mean this is only a transaction? Do you seriously think I would believe that?” Kayo continues.
“Shit…let’s go,” Hokuto tells Chiwa. “This may be hypocritical, but I didn’t want to see Satoru and his wife get hurt.”
Outside, grandpa says, “It’ll be tough from now, but we’ll do what we can for Satoru and Saori. But what with the things that happened to Seiji and you, the events this time, and the discussion of succession, I honestly feel like I’m going to collapse. I had worked hard to expand the business for the sake of my children, but to think things would turn out like this… Still, is it really alright not to contact the police?”
“Yes. If this goes public, all our related companies will be affected. This is not what I want, especially considering the employees. Besides, this is a place that my old man and grandpa has worked hard to protect,” Hokuto says.
“I’m sorry,” grandpa says sadly.
“I’m so surprised, having not seen Hokuto for so long,” Souma says tearily. “It’s like he has peeled off an outer later, or rather, evolved into a grown chicken. Look at all the admirable things he’s saying.”
More solemnly, Hokuto answers, “Souma, even though you’re Mamiya’s exclusive secretary, you lent me your strength to the very end. And for that, thank you.”
Souma bursts into tears, “You…you’ve really matured into a fine chicken. All this happiness may even give me some wrinkles!”
“I’ve also told Chiwa this, but if you ever find yourself in a pinch, don’t hesitate to contact us. There may not be much of anything we could help you with, but we always intend to do so.”
“Thank you,” Hokuto says, finally leaving the emotional burden of the Mamiya name.
The couple walks to the car, parked a little farther away from the main house.
“Let’s go,” Hokuto says, when he notices that Chiwa has stopped. “Chiwa? What’s wrong?”
“Go…where? We’re not husband and wife anymore,” she says.
“Can we go to your house? I have things to say to you…” he holds out his hand.
“I…I don’t know how I should face you. I don’t know if I can just take your hand like I did in the past. While Hokuto was working hard alone, I just rotted at home,” Chiwa says, meanwhile thinking what’s wrong with her. She had wanted to see him so badly. Shouldn’t she just jump into his arms? But despite that, she continues, “What am I to you now? Is it really alright for you to treat me the same again? I couldn’t do anything!”
“Sorry. I cannot excuse myself for leaving you after promising you not to. But even then, I still wanted to cut all my ties (with Mamiya). No matter how it looked to others, I was determined to use any means to finish this once and for all. I didn’t want to cause you trouble if something happened to me. But I suppose it was all for my convenience. I haven’t thought about y our feelings in the least,” Hokuto says, face down. “Like you said, I can’t call ourselves lovers. I probably don’t even have the right to stand next to you anymore. But even then, I wanted to touch you again. I guess that’s all.”
Guilty for making Hokuto say these things, for making him so troubled, Chiwa jumps into his arms.
“I’m sorry…I really missed you…I always wanted to say okaeri to you!”
“Tadaima.” (T/N: Okaeri means welcome back, tadaima means I’m home. I decided to leave it in Japanese because the impact is bigger, because you would only say these things to your family/loved ones/dear friends when leaving the house and coming back. Of course you can say it to your roommate, but I feel like this is a moment where Hokuto and Chiwa truly become a family.)
Later, the couple proceeds to have amazing sex…only Chiwa is so curious about what happened to Hokuto while he was away. Like how did he find out the culprit in such a short time? Was he sick? How could he have escaped Souma’s investigation of him? What did he eat? Et cetera, et cetera.
Of course, Hokuto is annoyed by this, since he wants to get it on. At first he asks nicely if he could answer her questions later, but as she keeps babbling on, he finally loses it and tells her to shut up.
“What? I was worried about you! I wasn’t with you! You can at least tell me what you did during that time…” Chiwa says angrily.
“You hold it! Do you know how much I’ve held back during these months? And you’re asking me to hold back even now?” Hokuto pushes Chiwa down. “I want to hurry and enter you.”
Chiwa is shocked speechless for a moment.
“Ummm…I didn’t mean to hold you back. Speaking of holding back, I felt the same too…” Chiwa rambles on.
Hokuto pushes her legs up and prepares to enter her.
“Wait, just wait, I’m not yet…”
“Why? You’re already so wet.”
“But it’s too fast, just wait a little…”
“No. I won’t listen. I’m going to enter.”
Hokuto pushes in, surprised when he looks at Chiwa’s face.
“It hurts a little. It’s been too long. I feel like I did the first time,” she says.
Hokuto starts laughing.
“What’s so funny?”
“Nothing, just relieved. You’re still you. I’ve really come back. Go on, complain as you wish,” Hokuto says as he wraps his arms around her body.
“Idiot…I love you,” Chiwa says. “That’s why I’m never letting you go. All of you belongs to me.”
The next morning, Chiwa wakes up to reassure herself that Hokuto has really returned to her side.
“I’m so glad, it’s not a dream,” she pushes her hair back. “Dad will come back soon, so we have to get up…”
Chiwa stops midsentence when she notices a diamond ring on her finger and screams loudly.
“Ah, you didn’t seem like you were going to wake up yet, so I decided to go ahead and put it on,” Hokuto explains. “It may be too late to say this, but I’ve pulled my name out of the Mamiya registry. I’m back to being Miura Hokuto.”
“Chiwa, please marry me once more,” Hokuto proposes. “I may have lost everything. The Mamiya name, my position as president, and even a goal in life. But what remains is the fact that I love you. If that’s still ok…”
“I would love to!” Chiwa says happily.
Our future will begin again once more from here.
On the last panel for comical relief, Chiwa asks, “Is it really alright to buy me such a big diamond ring? I mean, you’re unemployed and poor now…”
“Even if I’m unemployed, it doesn’t mean I’m poor. What kind of reaction is that after receiving a ring?” Hokuto answers.
Commentary: Ok, once again, the author says that the something we’ve been waiting for will appear in the last chapter. I have no idea if that means a marriage ceremony (because the name is Hapi Mari after all) or a baby. I’m being greedy and hoping for both. I also wish the boy on the cruise would make an appearance in the last chapter. He’s not a major character, but his interactions with Chiwa are so cute! One more chapter and we’ll finally be done!! I can’t wait!
