The setting is now Wao’s house. Wao’s mother is leaving the house when she runs into Wao coming home early from school. She asks, “You surprised me. why are you home early? Are you feeling sick?” and Wao replies, “It’s a test day” and looks at her awkwardly. Wao’s mother comes back into the house and asks Wao “Should we have Lunch then?” but Wao tells her not to mind him and leave the house as she was planning to. She answers, “Do you want to come with me? I’m going to the snow festival” and he waves her off and tells her to have fun. Wao is seen changing his clothes and making cup ramen. He then starts his homework when Gen slides in through the window. Gen tells Wao “I put Sumire’s food in” and Wao thanks him and asks him if he wants some ramen. While looking at the Ramen, Gen asks “Is this good? Where’s your mom?” Wao replies “Don’t Know. She’s on a date.” Gen is surprised. The two wait for the ramen to be ready and when they begin eating Gen asks “And you? What are you going to do?” and Wao replies “hm? About what?” Wao tells Gen “My mothers life is her life” and Gen replies “Ohh so coool”. “But not as cool as you Gen” replies Wao, and Gen just laughs. They sit in silence until Wao randomly says “I want to play the Piano” and Gen answers, “Then play” but Wao claims he has already forgotten how. Gen invites Wao to come over and play sometime. Wao pets Sumire and tells her he will take her out on a walk soon.
Shima and her mom are talking on the phone. Shima’s mom seems to be in the neighborhood to attend the snow festival. Shima is walking alone and thinking about how unbelievably selfish her mother is. She then runs into Gen and Wao walking Sumire and Wao asks “Where are you going?” and Shima replies “The winter festival.” And Wao tells her about his mother being there as well. Wao then asks if Shima’s father is at home and Shima replies nope and they realize the two are on a date. Shima then asks if the Snow Festival is very big, hoping that her father and Wao’s mother do not run into her mother. Shima then tells Wao and Gen about her mother visiting from Tokyo.
Shima’s mother runs into Shima’s father and Waos mother on their date. Shima’s mother then yells “Yacchan!” and Shima’s father is very surprised. Shima runs to the winter festival and sees the awkward group. Wao’s mother then gets up to leave and Shima’s father tries to awkwardly stop her. Shima and her father ask “Why didn’t you tell us you were coming in advance?” Wao’s mother then leaves after being encouraged by Shima’s mother. Shima is wary of her mothers’ actions. Shima’s mother then comments on Wao’s mothers beauty and Shima replies “Well he did fall in love with the way she looked” and to change the subject Shima’s father asks about her new husband. She replies that she left him at the hotel and plans to spend 2 to 3 hours with them. The three seem to be getting along well and make dinner plans for “Genghis Khan”, which is grilled lamb.
Waos mother returns home to Wao and Gen hanging out. The two welcome her home and Gen asks how her date went. She replies “oh yeah I was on a date right” and Gen hollers “wow awesome!” and she gives him a death glare and her soul escapes.
Shima, her father, and mother are purchasing the lamb for their dinner when her mother suddenly decides she will go home. She hands the bag to them and tells them to enjoy it. She also hands them souvenirs from Tokyo and apologizes to Shima’s father about interrupting his date. She then tells Shima “I’m glad you’re doing well here. Have you made friends? And please call me sometime!” and Shima replies” Yes, I have made friends. But whenever I call you, you tell me you’re busy!” and to this her mother apologizes and tells her that will not happen anymore. She also asks Shima “ how long she plans to stay here? Until college? Will she ever return to Tokyo?” and Shima replies “I don’t know” and her mother wishes her well and leaves.
Wao’s mother then asks him if he would like to go over to Shima’s for dinner because they were invited over. Wao asks his mother if she would like to go and when she replies “I don’t…not want to go” he tries to rush out of the house. Gen then gets up to leave because he is an outsider, Wao and his mother try to stop him but he still leaves.
Shima, her father, Wao, and his mother are all at Shima’s house around the table eating dinner. Shima’s father comments that the two look like siblings and they all laugh. He also apologizes about the sudden appearance of Shima’s mother and Wao’s mother understands. Then Shima’s father suddenly confesses “He would like to spend more time with her like this” which shocks Wao and Shima, so the two tactfully go upstairs. Wao’s mother tries to stop them because she thinks the kids should help make the decision too, but Wao replies “Nope, it’s you who makes the decision”. Wao and Shima hold hands and go upstairs, and Shima tells Wao about her mother’s four marriages and how she wants her father to be happy. The two then smile and say that they will be together forever if he does become happy. Shima’s father comes upstairs and tells Shima “We should get a bed for Sumire first” and the two then realize that Wao’s mother accepted.
It is morning, and Gen is picking up Wao at his house. Wao seems to have overslept and asks Gen to wait a bit or leave without him. Gen waits and the two walk together. The two talk about normal things like Sumire and Piano until Wao tells Gen that his family is moving in with Shima’s.
Shima is at school when she hears somebody playing the piano and she asks who is playing and somebody replies “Probably the teacher”. Wao is sitting on top of the locker daydreaming when Gen asks if he is going home, He replies, “Going home”. The person playing the piano is the teacher (Gen’s sister). Shima and Haruka are walking home from school when Shima tells Haruka that her and Wao are going to start living together. Haruka is shocked and replies “WHAT?”
