It is summer, and Rin can’t handle it very well. He is complaining to Masa about the weather saying that there is no one that would be trouble after summer, but Masa disagrees saying that people that lives at the seaside would. He says he wants to go to Russia and see a Siberian wolf. Shitara comes offering him a drink on which writes “broiled eel” but Rin declines it. Mariho asks Rin if he’s fine and Masa explains that every year during summer Rin becomes like this because of heat, since he is hypothermic and hypotensive. Mariho is surprised how Rin can’t handle summer weather and asks Masa if she is the same. Masa says she loves the summer but just needs to be careful not to get sunburns. She asks Shitara as well who says he loves summer and asks her back why she is asking them that. Mariho says she has a grandma back in Niigata and invites them all there during summer vacation, in order to introduce them to her granny. The trio agrees to go on same time. She is very happy and says they can play along the river and have fun at summer festival there. Masa is very happy she can meet Mariho`s granny and Rin is of course teasing Shitara what evil thing is he thinking about but Shitara exclaims he is not.
Mariho is doing house chores, and reminds her dad he`ll be late to the office. He seems somehow lost and confused asking about his shirt but Mariho seems to be managing everything at home, including her dad’s stuff. She informs him about her plans going to Niigata for a week and he doesn`t mind but wonders if there will problems occur.
“End of semester tests went fine, we received our report cards and summer vacation now begins.”
Mariho is narrating that she has been going a lot on dates with Shitara but still has to build up courage to call him by his name.
While driving in train she is practicing to call him Akito, when he asks her suddenly if she`s saying something. She panics she didn`t say anything so he skips that and asks if her granny likes sweet stuff cause he bought sweet potatoes as a present. She tells him that it`s her favorite and she`ll love it. He continues he`s not very popular with elderly people so he worries her granny will hate him. he says it was ever since he was a kid, especially with older woman and he was told a lot he`s bad at socializing so he wonders if it will be all right. She thinks to herself how cute it is to be worried about her granny. She tells him with smile it`ll be fine cause he is very cute when he smiles and he`s not bad at socializing. That makes him surprised and Mariho embarrassed when she realizes what she said just now. Masa and Rin looks at them how sweet they are and Rin of course takes this opportunity to tease Shitara saying to them to feel free flirting without noticing them and Shitara yells at him they are not flirting. Mariho thinks her granny will probably be surprised when she tells her she has a boy she likes.
They finally arrived and Rin is distressing again. Masa comments how from here they have to take an older railroad line when suddenly a man comes exclaiming Mariho`s name and hugs her. Shitara quickly pulls her back to himself and Mariho asks him who is he. Man shouts angry did she really forget him and after a few more glimpses she recognizes him as Tadaomi, an acquaintance. He tells them while driving that he was asked by her grandmother to pick her up. Rin comments that it`s an expensive car which he is driving and Tadaomi says his dad bought it after he graduated high school cause he succeeded his family farm. He says that Mariho`s friends are all beauty so Tokyo really is different after all. Mariho tells him that she transferred to Kanagawa prefecture (and they are all from there) and Tadaomi tells her it`s all the same and that`s also part of Tokyo. Rin comments he`s really a broad minded person and Tadaomi laughs he could say so. But Shitara is still displeased with whole situation so he asks Tadaomi what kind of relationship he has with Mariho. Tadaomi says her granny is his neighbor, who is always telling stories about her, how she is proud of her etc. Mariho stops him saying she is embarrassed but he continues saying that listening to all granny`s stories he also started liking Mariho so they wanted Mariho to become his bride. Of course Mariho and Shitara are both shocked by that, wondering if granny really did say that, and finally they arrive.
Mariho calls out to granny who welcomes her and compliments her hair, but Mariho informs her that Tadaomi has been saying same weird stuff to them. Granma says that since Tadaomi is looking for a bride they were wondering how Mariho would be a good one since she doesn`t have a boyfriend. She blushes and then informs her granny that she has a person she likes and she brought him here to meet her. Granny storms out asking which one is Mariho`s boyfriend and Shitara approaches introducing himself. Granny is shocked when she meets him saying it`s bad to lie and she yells at Mariho she is being deceived cause he is too pretty to have a one girl only. He says it`s not a lie and he is not deceiving her. Than Maasa jumps in introducing herself and says Shitara is seriously dating Mariho. Rin introduces himself as well and says that even though Shitara looks that way he is pretty inexperienced. Granny yells at Mariho why are all of her friend so beautiful and concludes this saying she will be the one to pick her partner.
Being alone, Mariho talks to her granny that Shitara really is a good guy, but she says she has to see it herself. She asks Mariho how long are they dating and Mariho replies 3 months. granny asks her since she is inexperienced, can she really figure him out in 3 months and can she really be sure he will only love her and he won`t be messing around. That disturbs her and left her thinking, she can`t ask him such questions. Maasa and Rin are looking around the house, commenting how wide and pretty it is. Then he teases Shitara how he failed to give good first impressing and all because he was born with such a beautiful face. Shitara tells him he doesn`t want to hear about his face from him. Tadaomi shows up saying he really does have a face like a girl. Then he laughs he`s lucky he has one rival less, now. Shitara is pissed especially when he notices Tadaomi is eating sweats he brought for granny. Tadaomi starts chocking and Maasa brings him tea, so when Tadaomi finally notices her he asks her if she`s an angel. Rin comments how can he notice the existence of Maasa just now. Shitara angrily tells Tadaomi that to him nothing matters as long it is girl and asks him how old is he. Tadaomi answers he`s 25. Shitara exclaims that’s old and gets himself into the fight with Tadaomi telling him he is too insensitive. Tadaomi backfires at him and that engage into the real fight just when Mariho and her grandma enter the room. Rin explains how they ended up struggling and grandma yells at them to stop that. Shitara glances at stunned Mariho and her granny and tells them that he and Rin will be staying in hotel. But when granny sees Mariho going to escort them to bus station she stops them and says they can stay here cause it`s expensive in hotel , but they have to be careful since they are guys.
Angry Tadaomi informs them he will be also staying here and Shitara tells him he is very angry. Mariho thanks her granny and she explains that during the stay she can keep an eye on him. Rin asks Shitara what will he do and Shitara says he will stay here. Then granny says to Mariho to help her do the dinner and to boys to take a bath before dinner. But then he tells Shitara he is glad they could stay there, when Tadaomi suddenly enters the bath yelling at them to finish it up already cause he need to be in time with dinner. Shitara is pissed again, saying to him that he should just go home to take a bath since he is a neighbor but Tadaomi brushes him off telling him it`s too troublesome. they get into fight again Tadaomi tells them he`ll do that later, but when he turns he sees Maasa and calls her „Angel“, what makes her scream and granny yells at him not to walk around naked when girls are here.
It`s finally night, everyone`s sleeping but Mariho, who decides to get some air. There she meets Shitara who is also outside since Tadaomi sleeps next to him. Shitara comments how it`s wonderful here, hearing nothing but bugs and watching beautiful stars. Mariho apologizes for her grandma’s words but Shitara tells her he is used to that. She continues that grandma is just worrying too much and Shitara asks her what worries her and what did she say. Mariho is embarrassed and tries to avoid it saying it doesn`t matter even if she asks him but he is also persistent so she finally tells him it is if Shitara will love her from this point and won`t be having affairs. Embarrassed Shitara asks her back what about her, will she also be serious and love him in future, what shocks her. He tells her he can`t guess the future, but he loves her very much right now, therefore he wants to show her grandmother he is not insincere.
Remembering how granny asked her does she really know Shitara, Mariho thinks that it is alright to see it herself and even though there are times when he is violent or unsocial, he treasures people and therefore she wants to trust him. He smiles, blushing, leans forward and they share their first kiss. Meanwhile, Rin is also awake, listening to them and bugs and looks little bit disturbed.
P.S. I just saw chapter 9, it is the festival, Mariho is becoming very pretty, but then… what`s with that ending?!?! L I`ll try to do the summary ASAP.
