The story started off with Yui reminisces her lonely past. Although she had a mother, It’s as though she never had one. She has been seeking for love for a very long time.
Yui always receives many compliments from her friends and co-workers she used to work for in high school. However, people would always compare her with her mother. They would say things like : ‘As expected. The daughter of an Ex-top model, Naoko-san.’ She lived in her mother’s shadow. Nonetheless, during those times, she had Kazuki by her side. He was a photographer of the school magazine she worked for.
Kazuki would follow her wherever she goes and is willing to fulfill her dreams. Kazuki was very sweet because he actually bought tickets to go to Hokkaido with Yui. Yui did mentioned she has always wanted to visit Hokkaido. During her tough times, when she was trying out for show modeling, Kazuki continued to support her. They had many good memories together. However, in order to succeed as a top model. She needed to focus more. She confessed to herself that she still have feelings for Kazuki and really want to go back to him. But it was impossible now (she thought Kazuki and Aki are dating).
Yui woke up to see Aki by the door getting ready to leave. Yui had just came back from London and the both of them haven’t talk after the last incident. Yui doesn’t want to talk about the incident that happened before so she quickly changed their conversation topic. She wished Aki good luck in her training.
Yui got ready to leave for work. While on her way, she met Kazuki (obviously it was an awkward moment since she thinks Aki is dating him). Kazuki asked : ‘So you came back from overseas. Are you off today?’ Yui : ‘No. Working.’ Kazuki : ‘As expected from a top class model. Working so diligently.’ Kazuki was really sweet and nice to her, offering her a ride. Kazuki : “So where are you headed today? S-Star? Or the Publication House?”
Yui felt weird that Kazuki was being so nice to her. In the end, she refused his kindness by giving an excuse that sounded like : “The weather is really good today so I’d like to walk instead.” Kazuki wished her farewell and went on. Soon after, she started questioning Kazuki’s character about being overly friendly or maybe has always been a little too friendly around everyone.
While day dreaming, Yui accidentally bumped into someone and dropped her bag. While she picks up her stuff, it shows that she had an appointment on Thursday (18th) at the Publication House. (what the picture was trying to show was that Kazuki knows Yui’s really well, even her schedule. This is in fact very doubtful of his character given he doesn’t have feelings for her, or maybe he still does.)
Yui arrives at work and started having little chats with her model friends. They mentioned that Kaz, a prominent young designer from France, is here in Tokyo looking to recruit runway models for the upcoming France Collection. Yui was struck by this piece of information. Her dream is to be on the runway stage for France Collection, partly because she wanted to gain her mother’s recognition. Rumour has it that Aki had passed the selection. *BAM* Double whammy for Yui because she couldn’t imagine a newbie like Aki would actually get accepted into such major event like France Collection.
Yui meets up with her mother to request for an audition. As usual, her mother, with no expression whatsoever, agreed. However, her words was cold, ‘You want to try out for the audition? Be my guest.’ Yui didn’t understand why her mother treats her so coldly. It is as though Naoko knows Yui would never get through the audition. Yui did not give up though. She started to work for her goal.
On the day of the audition, Yui’s entrance to the audition shocked many. People would look at her and half expected her to be the crème de la crème. “No doubt she would be selected”, many would say. Before her stage audition, Yui was chatting with her fello mates. Suddenly she slipped by them and headed to the bathroom where she saw Aki sitting alone by the side, whispering to herself ‘Never fail no matter what.’ That phrase brought Yui back to the past because Kazuki had said the very same thing to her before.
Soon after, she was called on to the stage for her audition. The crowd loved her, everyone thinks she’s pretty and very talented. When she stood on stage, she remembered the times when Kazuki was by her side, encouraging her. However, all has changed since Kazuki is by Aki’s side now, she thought to herself. Everything went well on stage, everything except Kaz’s gaze. He wouldn’t even bother to flinch at her the moment she got on stage.
When everything was over, people are eager to know of Kaz selection for The France Collection. Reporters would think that Yui has definitely obtained a green card. On the contrary, Kaz thinks that Yui is quite amazing, but just not amazing enough to be on the runway for The France Collection. His final decision was revealed when he pointed to the picture of Aki and said ‘I’ve found you!’
Naoko was informed of Kaz’s decision thus Aki was immediately called to the office. Aki came in Naoko’s office, half asleep, before she received the good news that she passed Kaz’s audition. She was overwhelm with excitement and she couldn’t stop saying ‘SUGOI!!’ Aki thought her lifelong dream will finally be realized that she’ll be able to stand on stage, side by side, with Yui.
On the other hand, Yui, was getting ready for her work when she suddenly receives a call from her mother, Naoko. ‘This is it. This is faith calling out to me’, Yui thought to herself.
