**T/N: Seems like I wrote the wrong name for Yui’s mum in the previous chapters. I called her Nanako which is actually Naoko. So I’ll use the correct name in this chapter. Sorry for the mistakes. And because I’m lazy (sorry), I’ll do a summary for this last chapter instead of a full translation.
The chapter begins with the reporters congratulating Yui for winning the best costume award and they commented that it was the same award her mum won in the past. Then a reporter questioned her about her mum’s rumour of getting married which was also news to Yui. She hurried home to interrogate her mum but Naoko denied it, saying that she only went to dine with him once. Yui then thought about her father and all that she knew about him was he’s half Japanese and French and his name is Yasaki Ryu.
She received a letter from Aki inviting her to see her first appearance at Paris Fashion Week and telling her that she’s got some news for Yui too. So Yui went to Paris to see Aki and they met at an after party. Aki was very happy and introduce Yui to her friends. She thanked Yui for coming and Yui did complement her for accomplishing her dream which made Aki filled with tears.
Yui thought that Aki was just a country bumpkin model not long ago but she could achieve the highest stage of modelling in just a year. She viewed her as her serious rival even though they’re work fields are different now.
Aki was shocked about Naoko’s rumour but Yui wasn’t oppose to her mum marrying. Yui then asked Aki who’s the person she wants her to meet and Aki nervously told her that she’s got a boyfriend. Yui was like, huh, that’s it? And wanted to return home but was held back by Aki saying that she told her boyfriend about Yui and he wanted to meet her and that in the past, this guy had worked with Naoko too. Yui’s response was like “so you’re dating an old fellow?” Aki appointed Yui to meet her tomorrow and ran off leaving Yui thinking why she must encounter this kind of thing when she made her way to Paris as a vacation from her tight schedule. But she admitted that she’s quite interested in the guy who worked with her mum.
The next day, Yui was waiting at a café and Ryu showed up asking her whether she’s Nisato Yui. (T/N: Ryu didn’t mention his name so Yui didn’t know who he really is.) Yui was relieved that the boyfriend was Japanese and looked younger than she’d imagine. She asked about Aki and he said she can’t come. Yui was a bit annoyed and was going to go back but he held her back, asking her to go on a date with him. Just then he dragged her along with him.
They went shopping and Ryu bought lots of stuff for Yui which made her distrust him even more. He asked her whether she had a boyfriend and what’s her type but she cut him off by asking whether he’s serious with Aki and if he hurt her, she won’t let him off easily. Ryu laughed and said that Yui was just as Aki described her to be, gentle and kind, and that she could make to this day because of her. She is blessed to have Yui as a friend. Then they were interrupted by tourists who asked Yui to take a picture for them and Ryu was amazed by Yui’s English. He asked her whether she can speak French but Yui said she couldn’t even though is a quarter French since he dad is half French and Japanese but she’d never met him. Ryu was pretty surprised by the fact. Suddenly Yui felt someone’s presence and started to think that they were stalked.
Next, they went to the Luvre Museum and Yui recalled that was here once to see Paris Fashion Week with her mum. She condemned herself for snatching that dream away from her mum. However, she did think she’s blessed for having a mum who’d sacrifice her chance of living just to give birth to her. “So you’re really the child at that time,” Ryu uttered in deep thought which astonished Yui. At the same time, they were stalked by Aki who dressed up suspiciously and was spotted by a boy causing her to flee.
The scene cut to the park where Yui and Ryu were resting. Ryu was surprise to learn that Aki knew Naoko when nobody had got any news from her since her disappearance after declining from PFW due to her pregnancy. Yui revealed that Naoko had never talked about her days in Paris so Ryu recollected how She was at that time, being looked down and bullied since she’s Asian and stuff, however, she’s never disheartened which made her shine. Ryu’s words struck Yui but the talk was broke off by people fussing about the suspicious person.
Yui and Ryu continued their date at a restaurant and she started to suspect the reason of this rendezvous. And as they parted, Ryu told her to hold on tight to the person important to her and asked her to take care of Naoko. As he walked away, Yui asked for his name. “Yasaki Ryu,” he answered. The name struck her while she was in the middle of a road with a car driving towards her. Ryu and Aki, still dressed up in her stalking clothes, rush to towards Yui.
The scene cut to the hospital where Naoko was annoyed for worrying and making her way to come all the way to Paris just to find that it was a minor injury and Yui blame Aki for making a big fuss. Suddenly, Ryu entered the room while Naoko was asking about Yui life saver which made the two pretty dumbfounded for their encounter. Aki was feeling uneasy and confessed that Ryu wasn’t her boyfriend. He excused for Aki’s lie, saying that it’s was he who fooled Yui, using Aki to set them up. Then he turned towards Naoko and thanked her for giving birth to Yui. He apologised for not being there when he told her he would be her strength. Naoko stop him, saying that he didn’t have to apologise since it was her own choice. She didn’t do it for him. However, Ryu still thought it’s his fault to corner her but one thing he wanted her to believe was that his feelings hadn’t changed. He still love Naoko and their child. Naoko was filled with tears which was the first time Yui saw it. The tears reflected her mum’s loneliness and weakness and she thought that may be Naoko had always love Ryu.
When they returned back to Japan, life was the same for both mother and daughter except that Ryu would e-mail them every now and then. He said he’d be visiting them next month which would be Naoko’s birthday. The story ends with a wedding ring for Naoko and Yui thinking of what she would say to Ryu the next time they meet, “hold on tight to the person dear to you.”
T/N: The author said that this chapter was actually the main plot. So actually it was the love story of Ryu and Naoko’s??
