Runway Lovers (Stage 3)
This episode kicks starts with other amateur models being overly jealous of Aki’s sudden good achievements, including being one of the selected models to walk the Tokyo Collection runway. As usual, Aki did wasn’t bothered by all the rumors. Her ultimate goal was to be one of the World’s Leading Top Model. Meanwhile, Nanami (an amateur model who’s jealousy got the best of her) started making phones calls and pulling strings to ruin Aki’s career. Yui on the other hand was caught up with in her thoughts. She couldn’t believe she did not make the cut for the Paris Collection.
Aki caught up with Yui on the street. She was very excited about her career ahead she even mentioned about Yui’s mother (Naoko) moving out of her agency to start a new one on her own (obviously she had no idea Yui has no clue about it). Yui was totally taken aback by the news and immediately stormed to her mother’s office to confront her of this piece of news. Her mother was openly honest when confronted. ‘I’m bringing Aki with me, you stay here with this Agency’, Naoko said. ‘Please give it your best’. Naoko was cold and expressionless when she said it, which tore Yui apart inside. ‘Why……?’ asked Yui. ‘You mean why I am unwilling to take my own daughter instead?’ replied Naoko. ‘You know very well I’m not a person who would jeopardize my business for family ties’, said Naoko.
Naoko continues ‘the campaign in which you’ll be appearing has put your name on hold’. ‘What?’ ‘The take was by Tokyo Collection’, said Naoko. She continued ‘In other words, if Tokyo Collection were to find a better model….’ Yui was very shocked at the thought of being replaced by other models. To appear as the model for the cosmetic world will bring about a huge fashion wave. Yui’s fear was to be overtaken by Aki. And if this continues, she might as well be heading towards doomsday.
Just when Yui’s storms out of her mother’s office, she bumped into one of Tokyo Collection’s producer. He had a call just a while ago and it was regarding Aki’s past. When he saw Yui, he wanted to confirm the rumors. Although it wasn’t in his hands to choose the models but if Aki were a troubled girl, it will bring a bad reputation to the entire industries. (Yui’s reply was not entirely reveal).
Aki came home drunk that night, laughing and crying. ‘They say my image doesn’t fit the show’ said Aki. ‘I was disqualified….’ And fell asleep. Aki shed tears in her sleep and this touched Yui. Yui didn’t mean for this to happen to Aki. The next morning Yui hurriedly to the studio to meet the Producer. She came across Nanami there. But before she could say a word, Naoko came walking in. She looked stern and agitated. ‘I didn’t realize you would sort to such lowly tactics to outcast Aki’, said Naoko to Yui before walking out from the studio. Yui tried to explain but was not given the chance.
Yui’s ex meet Yui is a bar drinking and joined her. Yui’s feels guilty for not covering for Aki’s attitude. All she said was ‘I do not really know much about Aki.’ She thought she caused Aki’s to be disqualified from the Tokyo Collection. Katsuki was surprised at Yui’s reaction. ‘I’d thought you’d say something like ‘it’s not my problem’ but that was pretty shocking’, Katsuki said. ‘I rarely see this expression on you, Yui. You were always so independent’, Katsuki said. ‘And when you start to drink…’, continued Katsuki. ‘Katsuki! I’m …..’ just when Yui wanted to express her feelings, their conversation were interrupted by a call from Aki. Katsuki left to talk on the phone for a while. When he returned, Yui was already gone.
‘If things continue to be the way it is, I’ll lost to Aki one day. Everyone prefers Aki over me. Just like that I’m going to be just another model’….
