Kyo stops Nina from leaving saying that it's easy to get lost in the crowd. So Nina reluctantly followed them to the shrine to pray. She looks distracted and Kyo noticed it, but she just laughed it off saying nothing's wrong.
Scene changes to Yuiko. Two guys from baseball club are saying how practice is starting so soon after new year. One of them says excitedly that he is aiming for Koshien (I understand that's like a grand tournament, since guys from Aozora yell are also aiming for it J). Yuiko goes up to them and wish them a Happy New Year. After the greetings, the guys ask her why she isn't with Tachibana today and whether he has recovered and is doing well. She's stunned as they continue asking her whether they had spent New Year & Christmas together and finally, she says that they had broken up. They are shocked by the news and keep asking her why and when it happened, but she replies that it's a secret and tells them not to make a fuss over it. Later on, she's cleaning the club when she suddenly gets a message from her ex asking when is the practice because he's coming too. She puts the cellphone away remembering their previous discussions and the conversation between the two guys, about Kumegawa's (her ex) absence from tournaments. She starts looking up some articles about him on the internet,via her cellphone. She saw a forum where people said things like it would be better if he had quit in high school with good memories, and how he had just been substitutes for 4 years. Suddenly, Kyo came in and the startled Yuiko dropped her phone. Kyo attempts to pick it up for her but she yells at him not to touch it. Nevertheless, he notices the contents. He says sorry and turn to walk out but she tells him that he should stop apologizing and that there are things she have not yet said to him. She says that there were times when she was thinking about Kumegawa and she had also met him, but even though it was a usual meeting, it was bad to betray him (Kyo) like that. Kyo replies how he had betrayed her the same way. He then smiled and apologized to her again.
Back to Nina, she's on the way to school when she hears someone greeting Miyake. She turns around but Miyake is nowhere in sight. She remembers Yuiko asking her if she had already noticed Kyo's feelings. She also remembers Kyo hugging her and thinks to herself how she had been thinking hard since that day, because finally the thing that she had wished for came true. Still, she does not feel satisfied and wonders if it is because Kyo had not confessed to her properly. Her classmates ask her what she had been doing and where did she go with Miyake, and this makes her wonder if the feeling of guilt from hurting him cause the dissatisfaction. Then Miyake enters the room and Nina calls out to him but he appeared to not have heard her and left. Nina continues to glance at him during the ceremony, and in class afterwards. However, Miyake ignores her and her friend asks her what had happened to them. Suddenly, Nina yells at him, and he finally turns towards her. He tells his friend to proceed first without him. The embarassed Nina doesn't know what to say so she wished him a Happy New Year and was cut off by Miyake who says that he saw her at the shrine on New Year's day. She is happy to know that he really was there as Keisuke had said so but she didn't see him and she had wanted to call out to him. Miyake then abruptly interrupt her again saying that she looked like she was having fun... WITH TACHIBANA and that he is happy for her. He then flashed a huge false smile and leaves, leaving her pretty shocked.
